The Western Regional Drug Alcohol Task Force is supporting SMART Recovery Ireland in its goal of establishing more SMART Recovery meetings in the region of Galway, Mayo, Roscommon.

There is currently one meeting taking place weekly in Galway City with interest in making more meetings available in Roscommon, Mayo and Galway.

The Western Regioanl Drug Alcohol Task Force  will fund 10 places in the next round of SMART Recovery Facilitator training at a cost of €350 per trainee.

The training  involves completing an online training package, attending two separate days of group training and shadowing a current facilitator.

This training will allow people to run a SMART meeting with confidence.

SMART Recovery Ireland are seeking applicants that have a knowledge and interest in addiction recovery, are willing to complete the training and commit to facilitating a SMART Recovery group in their area.

Ideally, applicants will have some group facilitation skills and some exposure to Motivational Interviewing and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, however these are not prerequisites.

People can express their interest by contacting:

Amanda Quigley,  SMART Recovery Ireland National Coordinator

The cut-off date is 16th December 2019 and the next round of training will commence in early 2020.
